These physicists now constitute a committee to select future awardees. The 2013 awardee was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Markovich_Polyakov\">Alexander Polyakov<\/a> for his work in quantum field theory and string theory. In December 2013, the 2014 awardees were announced, which are <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Henry_Schwarz\">John Schwarz<\/a> of Caltech and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_Green_(physicist)\">Michael Green<\/a> of Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Milner, in partnership with Google founder <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sergey_Brin\">Sergey Brin<\/a>, Facebook CEO <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Zuckerberg\">Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> and Chinese entrepreneur <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jack_Ma\">Jack Ma<\/a>, established the <a href=\"https:\/\/breakthroughprizeinlifesciences.org\">Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences<\/a>. The first 11 awardees, announced in December 2013, include <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Botstein\">David Botstein<\/a> (for mapping disease using DNA polymorphisms), <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Titia_de_Lange\">Titia de Lange<\/a> (for research on telomeres), <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eric_Lander\">Eric Lander<\/a> (for analysis of the human genome) and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shinya_Yamanaka\">Shinya Yamanaka<\/a> (for work in induced pluripotent stem cells).<\/p>\n<p>Now, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/12\/14\/science\/3-million-prizes-to-go-to-mathematicians.html\">New York Times<\/a> report, Milner has expanded his awards to mathematics.
